Why 12 Coaching Sessions Makes Sense

Short-term coaching rarely works for ADHD brains. Here's why a 12-week commitment is different:

  1. Real change takes time and your brain knows it.

Neuroscience shows that habit formation averages 66 days, with complex behaviors (like a consistent writing practice) needing 90+ days to feel automatic. Twelve weeks gives your brain the repetition it needs to rewire.

  2. Progress over perfection.

Twelve sessions normalize "good enough" writing and build resilience without the pressure of quick fixes. You'll have time for thoughtful feedback, meaningful revision, and the inevitable messy middle of creative work.

  3. You'll finally finish those abandoned drafts.

This focused support gives you the structure to make real progress and the crucial experience of follow-through. Completing a project breaks the cycle of starting-and-stopping and builds unshakeable confidence for future work.

Coaching Journey Phases

While your coaching journey is tailored to your unique needs and is not strictly linear, these suggested phases help illustrate how we’ll work together:

1. Reclaim Your Narrative (Sessions 1–3)

  • Clarify your writing goals and vision

  • Identify blocks, overwhelm, and ADHD-related challenges

  • Begin drafting with strategies that align with your brain

2. Clarify Your Writing Life (Sessions 4–6)

  • Map out writing priorities and projects

  • Address mindset and motivation obstacles

  • Refine planning approaches without overthinking

3. Design Your Unique Writing Practice (Sessions 7–9)

  • Build sustainable, brain-friendly writing habits

  • Create your unique-to-you writing practice

  • Implement systems to maintain consistency and flow

4. Write Forward with Confidence (Sessions 10–12)

  • Troubleshoot challenges and maintain momentum

  • Review drafts, progress, and key learnings

  • Plan next steps for continued writing success beyond coaching

Ready to Move Your Story Forward?

You don't have to keep circling the same chapter. Write Your Story Forward gives you the structure, strategies, and support to finally move — without pressure or burnout.

  • I hold a PhD in Psychology (Cognitive-Behavioral Neuroscience), an MA in Psychological Research, and a BA in Psychology with a minor in Philosophy (Cum Laude). I'm an incoming MFA Fiction student at George Mason University (Fall 2026, fully funded), and I'm pursuing Board Certified Coach (BCC) credentials.

My training spans trauma awareness, nervous system regulation, ADHD management, coaching, and writing across genres. I'm a published poet and writer with a novel in progress, and I've been writing scientific and nonfiction work for over a decade.

I also have ADHD. I know what it feels like to love writing and struggle to show up for it anyway. That's not background information — it's the whole reason I do this work.

  • At this time, I am still accepting new one-on-one coaching clients. To reserve your spot, simply:

    1. Schedule a free consultation to see if coaching with me is the right fit.

    2. If we decide we’re a good match—and you have chosen an investment option—I will email you a personalized invoice and our coaching agreement.

    3. Pay your personalized invoice.

    4. Sign the coaching agreement.

Once those steps are complete, you will be onboarded onto my secure coaching platform and can schedule your first session.

    Hooray! 🎉

  • Payment is made via a personalized invoice, which can be paid in full or in installments (if applicable). Your spot is only secured once the invoice is paid and the coaching agreement is signed.

  • The coaching agreement is a signed commitment between us:

    • My commitment: To provide high-quality coaching and hold compassionate space for you as a person and writer with ADHD.

    • Your commitment: To be open and present to the coaching process.

The agreement also outlines all policies and detailed information about the 12-session coaching package.

  • You have 6 months from your first payment date to use all 12 sessions. Life happens—if unexpected circumstances arise, extensions may be granted on a case-by-case basis (though they are not guaranteed).

  • Coaching is designed to be flexible and meet you where you are to get you to where you want to be. If you have tried something and it doesn’t feel right, we’ll adjust milestones, troubleshoot obstacles, and celebrate progress at any pace. You don’t need to be “perfectly consistent” to see results.

  • Expect to dedicate roughly 2–4 hours per week to your coaching journey. This includes your 1:1 session, any optional exercises or worksheets, and implementing strategies between sessions. The pace is flexible. Our goal is to build a sustainable, brain-friendly rhythm that fits your writing life, not disrupt it.

  • Your 12-session package is designed to provide a full, structured coaching experience. While the package doesn’t automatically continue, many writers choose to extend their coaching or explore new support options afterward. Before your sessions end, we can discuss what next steps might look like so you feel confident maintaining your writing momentum. And even after your coaching package is complete, you’re always welcome to email me with questions. I’m still here to support you!

  • Yes! Coaching clients receive 10% off partial (up to 100 pages) or full manuscript developmental edits. See current rates and details here.

  • Not at all! Some clients come with just an idea or outline, while others are halfway through their manuscript. This program is designed to meet you where you are and help you with all future writing endeavors.

  • If you're looking for community alongside coaching, the Focused ADHD Writers Group might be a better fit. It's an 8-week virtual program with live group calls, a private Slack community, and personalized support — at a more accessible price point than 1:1 coaching.

Cohorts are small and run a few times a year. [See group coaching details here.]

  • If you’re curious but uncertain, a free consultation is the best place to start. We’ll discuss your goals, challenges, and what a brain-friendly writing practice could look like for you.
