Meet Your ADHD Writing Coach

Hey, Writers! I’m Candice.

For years, I pushed myself to follow productivity systems that weren’t built for my ADHD brain—working harder, staying up later, and wondering why writing felt impossible some days and effortless on others. Perfectionism kept me stuck, and burnout became routine.

After navigating the challenges of finishing my PhD and adjusting to life as a new mother, I finally received a late ADHD diagnosis. In that moment, everything clicked. I wasn’t lazy or broken—I was wired differently.

Once I began working with my brain instead of against it, writing became clearer, more joyful, and sustainable. I also realized I had been inventing ADHD-friendly strategies long before I even had the language for them.

Drawing on my background in cognitive-behavioral neuroscience, years of teaching and advising, and experience as a published writer, I developed a compassionate, brain-friendly approach to writing. As I worked toward my Board Certified Coach credential, I began helping other writers do the same.

I help writers with ADHD skip years of trial and error by giving them the tools, structure, and compassion I once needed—and still rely on today. With warmth, humor, and science-backed strategies, I empower writers to trust their voice, take charge of their creative process, and build the joyful, sustainable writing life they’ve always dreamed of.

When I’m not coaching or writing, you’ll probably find me dancing in the living room with my five-year-old or hunting for the coffee I just set down (again).

My Approach to Coaching

My work blends psychology, neuroscience, and compassionate coaching with the lived experience of being both a writer and an ADHDer. I believe writing becomes easier—not through force or willpower—but through routines that honor your energy, creativity, and thinking style.

Together, we:

✧ identify the real blocks behind avoidance, overwhelm, or perfectionism
✧ build writing habits that feel natural and doable (not rigid or exhausting)
✧ create structures that support focus while leaving room for creativity
✧ develop tools that align with your values, strengths, and life circumstances
✧ cultivate self-trust so writing becomes something you return to—willingly

My goal isn’t just to help you finish a project. It’s to help you build a writing life that feels good to live in—one that supports your brain, protects your well-being, and brings you confidence, clarity, and joy.

My Coaching Philosophy

As your coach, I combine causal, strengths-based, and trauma-informed methodologies to guide you through a transformative journey of self-discovery and empowerment. This holistic coaching approach is a powerful tool for gaining deep insights into your challenges, leverage your unique strengths, and effectively manage past trauma. This strategy encourages lasting growth, not a temporary band-aid solution.

Causal

Uncovers root problems to empower sustainable success and genuine transformation.

Strengths-Based

Transforms barriers into opportunities by using your strengths to boost self-confidence and manage challenges.

Trauma-Informed

Adapts coaching to address trauma-related challenges sensitively to foster a safe, empathetic, healing environment.

Combining these approaches help guide my coaching practice to…

Creative Thrive Values

These values shape how I coach, create, and lead. They’re the compass I come back to in my work—and the spirit I hope to nurture in every writer I support.

Empowerment

I believe you already hold so much strength and potential. My job is to help you see it, trust it, and use it to move forward with confidence.

Growth

Growth isn’t a finish line—it’s a rhythm. I’m here to support your evolution, celebrate your progress, and help you keep moving even when the path feels uncertain.

Respect

I honor your story, your lived experience, and the many ways your brain works. You deserve to feel genuinely seen and valued in every step of this journey.

Open-Minded

I welcome curiosity, experimentation, and new ways of thinking. Together, we explore what’s possible when you let go of rigid rules and allow yourself to create freely.

Compassion

Creative work asks us to be brave. I meet you with patience, kindness, and understanding—especially in the moments when you’re hardest on yourself.

Creativity

Creativity is how we make sense of the world and express what matters. I believe in its power to help you imagine, rebuild, and shape a life that feels fully your own.

Ethics & Inclusivity Matter

As your coach, I’m committed to leading with integrity. Compassion and inclusivity aren’t add-ons to my work—they’re the foundation. I’m dedicated to creating a space where every person feels safe, respected, and valued, no matter their age, race, gender, sexual identity, neurodiversity, or any other identity or lived experience.

Everyone is welcome here. Truly. Whether you’re someone who laughs at your own jokes (same here) or someone who moves through the world with a quieter kind of humor, your presence and perspective matter.

My goal is to ensure you feel heard, seen, and supported—always. Together, we build a community rooted in authenticity, integrity, and compassion… with a few lighthearted moments to make the journey feel a little brighter.
